Having a great time talking about Workforce Training & Development in :30 bursts!
...and all kids who deserve a safe, clean community where everyone enjoys equal opportunity and access to live successful lives. This reason for being has been in my blood since I was a teenager running our Jesuit high school's social justice club. I have always aspired to be a person for others...then and now.
Over the ensuing decades, I carried that passion into college and eventually Brooklyn, NY where I started my agency business working with major corporations in food, fashion and finance largely developing their brand, go to market and growth strategies. All the while, my colleagues and I mentored students in our offices, supported and consulted local small businesses, and volunteered after hours and on weekends on issues like housing, homelessness, education and sustainability. Two vastly different worlds...the C-suite and the community.
Today, we live in a very special time where these two worlds are colliding like never before. Confidence in government to cure societal ills is at an all time low and the marketplace demands corporations do their part to fill in the gaps of need. This "social impact movement" and boom of purposeful brands now sews my two different worlds into one where the C-suite now understands the double bottom line opportunity working with communities in meaningful ways.
This is an Epic Era of Good where government, nonprofit and for profit organizations are now working together to create an inclusive economy, community and family of shared values where kids can grow up to be exactly what they want to be.
I am eternally grateful to be part of the B Corp movement and I will continue to be part of B Lab's evolving standards to helps companies be forces of good in the world today. What's the alternative?
How much longer do we all have on this planet to deliver same old, same old creative?
The titillation of creative is a hallmark of my career. There is little I love more than working with colleagues blow minds with a new creative take on a branded experience.
If you think you shouldn't go there...go there anyway...
If you can't make money without excluding people or screwing people over, you are a lazy, terrible person." ---Quote me.
I believe in stakeholder capitalism and social impact. It simply takes A TAD more strategic effort to NOT EXCLUDE people from opportunity and experiences...and STILL make money.
